Rachel Snyder, MAcOM, LAc, LMT

The athletic years

Rachel became fascinated with human anatomy and exercise physiology while rowing for the University of Texas. As a collegiate rower, sports nutrition and optimal athletic performance were academic as well as athletic endeavors. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology in 1997.

After college, Rachel suffered from chronic sinus and respiratory infections. She was frustrated with the side effects of chronic antibiotic use. Her voice was constantly hoarse. Rachel believed there had to be another way! She became aware of the effects of pollution and other environmental toxins while researching alternative medicine. Chemicals in cleaning products and chlorine from indoor pools were major stresses to her respiratory health. She learned to minimize toxins in her life to maintain strong lungs and immunity.

The massage years

Focusing on prevention and wellness eventually led her to become a licensed massage therapist. She graduated from The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School in Austin in 2001. Rachel also holds advanced certification in prenatal massage through the Kate Jordan Seminars. Her clinical experience focuses on alleviating acute and chronic musculoskeletal issues due to injury and/or structural imbalances.

The eastern medicine years

Delving further into herbs and Chinese medicine, Rachel became a licensed acupuncturist in 2012. She received her master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAcOM) from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, one of the leading schools of Chinese Medicine in the nation. She is nationally board certified, a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and is licensed to practice acupuncture and herbal medicine in the state of Texas.

The holistic years

Rachel uses her expertise from her varied training with each and every patient she sees.  She relies on all facets of Chinese medicine in addition to acupuncture, including nutrition, herbs, bodywork, and moxibustion. Rachel specializes in sports medicine, mental health, women’s health, and respiratory disorders. She treats a wide range of health conditions including allergies, asthma, hormonal imbalances, stress, anxiety, depression, fertility, digestive disorders, and pain. Rachel understand each body is different and believes in treating each patient as a unique individual.
